Cardiology

The Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program in the Cardiovascular Division includes rotations at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, the Miami VA Medical Center, and University of Miami Hospital, all of which are geographically contiguous adjacent to the University of Miami medical campus.

The core training program includes supervised experience in cardiovascular consultation, intensive cardiovascular care and diagnosis and management of diverse cardiovascular conditions in both inpatients and outpatients.

In addition to bedside activities, the program provides extensive training in cardiovascular diagnostic graphics, imaging techniques, stress testing, postoperative management of cardiovascular surgical patients, and the sub-specialized areas of interventional cardiology, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, and heart failure and transplantation.

Additional clinical experience includes adolescent and adult congenital heart disease, cardiovascular genetics, and clinical and basic research activities tailored to the interests and abilities of the individual fellow. During the last year of this three-year program, elective time for further experience in areas of special interest or research can be arranged individually.

For fellows targeting an academic career that includes investigative focus, an additional year of research experience can be arranged in conjunction with any of the numerous scientific mentors in the Cardiovascular Division.
