Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Fellowship
The Jackson
Memorial Ryder Trauma Center Fellowship Program offers 6 RRC approved positions
in Surgical Critical Care. This one year fellowship program includes extensive experience in the Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Neuroscience ICU and Burn ICU. Five positions are available to continue for a second year of training in Trauma Surgery. Individuals that have completed their surgical training outside of the USA and those from Canada are also encouraged to apply provided that they are eligible for a J-1 or H-1B visa (successful completion of the ECFMG and USMLE examinations).
This unique experience couples Surgical Critical Care with
a high volume of operative trauma as well as an extensive didactic program which
includes multiple conferences such as the following:
- Operative Skills
- Surgical Critical Care
- Journal Club
- Research conferences
The fellows are also trained to become ATLS instructors
and ATOM course providers. They are also exposed to numerous visiting professors
. The yearly Zeppa Lecture features nationally and internationally reknown
Trauma Surgeons.
Our fellowship also offers extensive experience in
research, teaching, administration, trauma systems management and exposure to
international trauma systems in addition to clinical practice.
