Anesthesiology Pediatric
The one year Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship Program
will be divided between Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) and Jackson Memorial
Hospital (JMH). At MCH, the Fellow will gain experience in the perioperative
care of children undergoing a variety of sub-specialty surgeries including
neurosurgery, facial-maxillary reconstruction, ENT and general surgery. MCH has
a very busy pediatric cardiac surgical program performing more
than 400 open-heart cases each year.
JMH has one of the largest neonatal care units in North America. At JMH
fellows will gain considerable experience in the anesthetic care of full-term
and premature infants in addition to attachments to both the newborn and
pediatric intensive care units. There is an active pediatric solid organ
transplant program at JMH, including multivisceral and liver transplantation.
The Fellow will have access to the teaching, library, research and computer
facilities at the UM/JMH Department of Anesthesiology. He or she will be
expected to participate in a research project during their Fellowship where they
will have the assistance of full time research staff in the department.
