  2. This is a program that provides free price estimates for healthcare services at Jackson Health System facilities.

  3. Why is price transparency important?
  4. More and more insurance plans require out-of-pocket spending by the patient. Whether you have a deductible or coinsurance - or if you're searching for healthcare services without insurance - Jackson wants to help you understand what you'll pay for care. Prices for medical services can vary significantly, even for the exact same procedure in the same area, with the same equipment. Jackson Health System empowers you with information to make an informed decision about your care.

  5. How will it benefit patients?
  6. Today, patients do not have consistent access to quality, price, and service information when they are choosing a healthcare provider or considering treatment options. This price transparency service will enable patients to make more informed choices. Care Quote will improve the healthcare shopping experience by providing price estimates for different services and treatments. Unlike traditional price estimators, which rely on averages, our service checks patients' actual insurance information to provide highly accurate quotes based on their insurance plan design, deductibles, coinsurance, and more. This information will also be useful to patients who don't have health insurance and want to research cash prices.

  7. Is my information secure?
  8. Jackson is fully committed to maintaining and managing patient data in a highly secure and protected environment. Our systems and workflows strictly follow legal and industry guidelines for data security.

  9. What services are included in the price estimate?
  10. The estimate includes hospital charges, sometimes called "facility fees". For an insured patient, the price includes the estimated cost your insurance carrier may cover and your expected expense via copayments, deductibles, or coinsurance. Most of our estimates do not include professional fees charged by a physician, radiologist, pathologist, anesthesiologist, nurse practitioner, or other independent practitioner. In some cases, such as routine childbirth, we may be able to offer package pricing that includes all facility and professional fees.

  11. How are estimated cost results provided?
  12. Once we collect all the necessary information, we will send an official estimate via mail and email. This does not guarantee that your health insurance provider has approved or will approve the treatment or service. Actual coverage depends on the terms and conditions of your insurance plan and is generally subject to considerations of medical necessity and other policy constraints.

  13. How do I obtain an estimate if professional services are excluded?
  14. Only the physician or other professional provider can provide accurate price estimates for their services. Many services at Jackson are performed by physicians who are in private practice or are employed by the University of Miami.

  15. What information do I need to obtain a price estimate?
  16. Basic information such as your name, home address, phone number, email address, a description of the service your physician is requesting, the estimated date of service, and insurance data - including provider name, plan, and member number - are required for the financial representative to provide an estimate for anticipated services.

  17. How can I get an estimate of how much a procedure or treatment will cost at a Jackson facility?
  18. The best way to get an estimate is to call our Care Quote Center at 305-585-CARE. Patients can also visit www.JacksonCareQuote.org and fill out the online form.

  19. Why am I unable to receive an exact price?
  20. Actual charges may vary based on medical condition, unknown circumstances or complications, final diagnosis and treatment ordered by the attending physician(s). Accordingly, Jackson Health System makes no representation, express or implied, and disclaims any and all liability as to the accuracy of each estimate.

  21. When is payment due for services?
  22. Your total estimated patient responsibility will be due prior to the time services are rendered. Upon arrival to the facility, a representative will complete your registration and collect payment for services you are scheduled to receive.

  23. How long is the price estimate valid?
  24. Estimates are valid for 45 days.

  25. What is the processing time for a price estimate?
  26. You will typically receive an estimate within three business days. Price quotes may not be available for more complex procedures and surgeries, but a member of our team will contact you to discuss your specific request.

  27. How do I schedule an appointment?
  28. You may request an appointment at one of our facilities by contacting our scheduling center at 305-585-6000.

  29. What hospitals are included in the Care Quote service?
  30. The Care Quote service is offered at the following facilities:

    • Jackson Memorial Hospital
    • Jackson North Medical Center
    • Jackson South Community Hospital



Please note that Jackson Health System, like most health systems, can normally only provide a price quote for hospital fees. In most cases, you will be charged separately for professional fees from your doctor and other physicians involved in your care. You should discuss those fees with your medical provider and, if applicable, your insurance company, to ensure you are prepared for the full cost associated with your procedure. The price quotes we provide are based on the information provided by you and your insurance company, if applicable. Your final bill could change if, for example, you incur additional charges toward your deductible or if you enter a new year for your insurance plan before you receive the service. If you have any questions about those details in your insurance plan, we recommend you contact your insurance provider. Please note that deductible obligations are typically re-computed at each health insurance plan year anniversary. If your plan anniversary occurs between your quote request and the time an actual service is rendered, the amount of deductible you may owe could vary significantly from the estimate.
